An important map in the study of Africa. This map/study gives an insight into both the physical characteristics of the continent, but also into the peoples who live there. It shows Africa to be not the dark continent, but with an early history with richness and complexity to rival that of Europe and Asia of that same era. One side contains a classic National Geographic (physical) topographical map of Africa, surrounded by descriptions of the features of various portions of the continent and some of the early known history, plus illustrations of early artwork from that region. This side also contains a map inset displaying the states and kingdoms of the African past. The reverse-side contains a National Geographic political map (showing countries) of Africa surrounded by illustrations of the various peoples who occupied the continent with short descriptions of their characteristics and lives. This side also contains a map inset of the peoples and languages of Africa showing where they live (please see all photos).
Map is approximately 23” x 28”.
The National Geographic is known for it's fine maps & detailed information.
